Preparation Instructions:
Many thanks to Ava of Chico California for submitting this delicious chocolate graham crackers recipe. To get started, please take out a medium size mixing bowl, and then add in the cocoa, baking flour, dark brown sugar, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and kosher salt. Next take out an electric mixer, and rapidly stir these ingredients together until you have an even mixture. Next add in the organic honey, blackstrap molasses, cold filtered water, pure vanilla extract, and salted real butter. Mix these ingredients together using your electric mixer, stopping only after a firm and even graham cracker dough has formed. Next take out a cookie sheet, and roll your graham cracker dough into a half inch thick layer between two sheets of wax baking paper. You will now need to slide the dough into the refrigerator to chill for one hour, or until the dough hardens. While your graham cracker dough is chilling, preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or 175 degrees Celsius. Once your graham cracker dough has chilled, remove it from the refrigerator, lightly flour it, then roll it into an eighth inch thick layer. Cut this dough into two inch squares, then place them on a parchment lined cookie sheet. Perforate each graham cracker square several times with a fork, then slide them into the oven to bake for fifteen minutes. Remove the chocolate graham crackers from the oven once they begin to turn golden brown, however do be careful not to burn them. Let the crackers cool for a full ten minutes before serving them.

Michael from the beautiful city of Boulder Colorado recently emailed us this chocolate graham crackers specific question. He asked will organic whole wheat flour work with this recipe? The answer is yes wheat flour will work very well with this recipe instead of the called for white all purpose baking flour. In fact I have created this recipe twice with whole wheat flour and it turned out just perfect. If you decide to use organic whole wheat flour then simply use the same called for quantity which is a full two and three quarters cups.

Regardless of the type of flour that you decide to use in this recipe I do highly recommend Bob's Red Mill brand flour products. The flour produced by this company is always top notch, providing the best possible flavor and consistency of any baked foods. Bob's Red Mill offers a whole assortment of different types of flour such as standard white flour, soy flour, almond flour, barley flour, multi-grain flour, coconut flour, and many others. If you want the absolute best tasting homemade graham crackers then Bob's Red Mill premium flour products will help ensure that happens.
